ROSARITO BEACH, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO---Baja is safe for visitors and he hopes its tourism sector quickly rebounds, a leading U.S. diplomat told El Mexicano newspaper in a front-page story published Monday.
Ronald Kramer said that publicity about Mexico‘s war against drug cartels had falsely created the impression in the U.S. that the area is unsafe for visitors.

Rosarito Beach Reminds U.S. Visitors Of New June 1 Document Requirements.

ROSARITO BEACH, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO --- This tourist destination reminds visitors from the United States that as of June 1 they‘ll need a passport or similar document to re-enter the U.S. by land or sea.
That is the date for full implementation of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. Since January 2007 the requirements have been in effect for air travelers returning from Mexico or Canada.

Pese a la extensa cobertura noticiosa de los hechos de violencia y la guerra contra el narcotráfico en México, la secretaria de Seguridad Interna de Estados Unidos, Janet Napolitano, asegura que los visitantes estadounidenses están seguros en México.
“El visitar México ahora, para los americanos, que son razonablemente prudentes, van a estar seguros, no tenemos información que indique que los turistas americanos sean un blanco”, dijo Napolitano durante una conferencia de prensa en la garita de carga de Otay Mesa.

Desde que Rosarito se convirtió en ciudad en 1995, hemos recibido a más de un millón de visitantes por año. Aproximadamente un 10% de sus residentes son expatriotas, la mayoría de ellos de los Estados Unidos. La gente viene de visita y se queda a vivir.
La ciudad siempre le ha dado la bienvenida tanto a visitantes como a nuestros residentes extranjeros, y cuando fuí elegido Alcalde en el 2007, fue mi compromiso el seguir haciéndolo.
